On the stage of performing “Solo”, Jennie chose an asymmetrical design to expose her bare shoulders. The highlight of the top is the red bow tied on the chest, and the ruffle on the right shoulder adds elegance to the outfit.
The details may have made us feel ‘too much’ but luckily, they didn’t. Everything looks so ‘right’. This time, Jennie looks absolutely badass, and she didn’t ruin it with too many accessories or heavy makeup. She literally looks like a precious red rose. I appreciate this dress a lot.
2. Jisoo’s red velvet top at MMA 2018
Okay, it’s not a dress but this red velvet top is too stunning I have to add it to this list. I mean, there is nothing more gorgeous than the visual of BLACKPINK in such a beautiful, charming red velvet top.
She seemed to stand out among the female stars at the award stage. I just can’t describe how much I adore this outfit. The top with a special choker collar design and a wide neckline have brought Jisoo a very very seductive look.
Images and footages of her wearing this outfit went super viral after the award stage. My breath was taken away just by looking at the photos, I wonder how stunning she must have looked in real life that J-Hope and V were even a little bit distracted.
3. Rosé’s red lace dress in “DU DDU DU DDU”
I love this dress a lot. From Preen, the dress name is Tessie, designed by Thornton Bregazzi and costs $1,250. Rosé with her perfect body proportion has slayed this dress even better than the brand’s model.
This red shade is so vibrant. The asymmetrical puff sleeves and the sheer lace material bring up a light and floating feeling, combined with Y/project spiral sandals which neutralized the feminine. I don’t know how to exactly describe Rosé in this dress but I would say if Jennie looks like a precious rose, then Rosé looks like a walking ruby.
4. Jisoo’s Alexander McQueen dress in “How you like that” MV
Though this dress doesn’t show much flesh, why does Jisoo still look so sexy in it? I guess it was the sheer lace material and the striking red color that did the job, combined with the fire halo on her head. Just absolutely stunning.
This beautiful dress is from Alexander McQueen which is priced at about $3000. Despite the hefty price tag, I don’t think the dress will look better on anyone else other than Jisoo. Though this dress was significantly lengthened, and some say it makes Jisoo look shorter, I don’t see that at all. Look at this photo, she looks like an Alexander McQueen model shooting for the new collection.
5. Jennie’s wine red dress on the “Kill this love” stage
In “Kill this love” 2019 live stage, though other members’ also got super badass outfits, my eyes were drawn to Jennie’s the most. Her outfit consists of a red cut-out dress, hipster boots and a leather glove.
Actually, it was a long dress before being fixed. If keeping it in its original shape, plus the deep red color, Jennie would look like an average U50 woman. So basically, BLACKPINK’s stylist cut one part of the dress to show Jennie’s legs. The deep red color is effective in enhancing Jennie’s bright complexion.
Also, Jennie chose a deep red lipstick shade to match the outfit, and oh my god look at her hair, she looks like a badass game character.
6. Jisoo’s Dolce & Gabbana dress on Jalouse magazine
If Jisoo hadn’t been a K-pop idol, she could be a full-time photo model for sure. In a photoshoot for Jalouse, Jisoo wore a red, bouncy tulle dress from Dolce & Gabbana, and despite the simple look, it costs about $5000!
Now, talking about the design, I like red, and I like tulle, but I personally don’t like red tulle. I cannot explain why but I just feel like the texture of tulle doesn’t go really well with striking colors such as bright red. I prefer more of a pastel color tulle dress. And a bright red color should be on a more flattering fabric like satin, velvet or silk.
It seems like this dress is adored by many celebrities: Sandara Park, Sunmi, Han Ye Seul, Tina Tamashiro or Emilia Clark all chose to wear the same red tulle dress. However, Jisoo exudes her own charisma in it. To conclude, this is a nice dress, the material looks good and the clever addition of a sweater from Chanel makes Jisoo look nice and stylish.
7. Lisa’s red polka-dot dress at Michael Kors 2018 fashion show
Since Lisa doesn’t wear red as often as the other members, this is the only remarkable red dress of Lisa I can bring to the list.
So, bright red is already a hard-to-wear color. If combining it with such eye-catching patterns like polka-dot, the wearer could end up looking super cheesy. At Michael Kors’s 2018 fashion show, though Lisa was praised for her doll-like look, this dress that she wore received some negative comments about its cheesiness.
However, Lisa did somehow save the look by combining the dress with black sock boots to tame the striking red color, and she added a ton-sur-ton ‘Stemmed Roses’ handle bag also from Michael Kors to neutralize everything.
In fact, actress Yang Mi also wore the same design once. However, she didn’t receive as many praises as Lisa due to her choice of color. The black color made her look older, and she also combined it with the wrong shoes and the wrong bag. Overall, I think Lisa still looks cute in this dress.
8. Jennie’s red lace dress in BLACKPINK’s Japan concert 2019
Honestly, I never get tired of seeing Jennie in red. There are countless times Jennie wears red, but this time her dress doesn’t meet my expectation.
At a 2019 concert in Japan, Jennie wore a two-wire red lace dress with a sheer upper part and a deep neckline. Seems like nothing could go wrong with a red minidress, but the lace pattern looks too large and stiff to me, plus the black safety shorts she wears underneath are popping out, making the overall look seems odd. And I don’t get the black line at the bust.
So, the dress is a Self-Portrait design that costs $475, and instead of keeping its original form, BLACKPINK’s stylist cut the dress shorter to show off Jennie’s legs. Though it makes it easier for her to dance, this is not really a successful customized dress to me since BLACKPINK’s stylist is one of the most creative people I’ve ever known.
However, Jennie saved the look by smartly choosing a simple makeup look and a natural hairstyle.
9. Jisoo’s red dress at SBS Gayo Daejun 2018
Now, first of all, I don’t think this Alexander McQueen dress looks flattering on Jisoo. Many people criticized its design, saying it’s ‘cheesy’, even that black corset couldn’t save it from the cheesy look.
Gulnazar, a Chinese actress also wore this dress in a photoshoot but thanks to the smart choice of accessories which are black boots, big earrings and a very chic handbag, she was praised for the charming and seductive look.
This dress is surely not easy to wear, but still, because Jisoo is so pretty she didn’t look too bad in such an unflattering dress.
10. Rosé’s dress on Gayo Daejun Awards 2017
This red dress of Rosé at Gayo Daejun disappointed a lot of people. I doubt that the stylist who picked this dress was the same stylist of BLACKPINK. If you are a fan of BLACKPINK or have been following the group for a long time, perhaps you know the “legendary” cut-cuts.
However, though has been cut short, the deep red dress still made Rosé look way too rustic and old, like 10 years older than her real age.
Plus, the stylist didn’t add anything special to it. It looks like she just randomly pulled this dress out of her grandma’s closet and cut it short and then gave it to Rosé. There were no necklace or boots, things that could’ve saved the dress, and the earrings, they disappeared in Rosé’s hair.
Besides, the brown-red shade makes Rose’s complexion look darker when facing the spotlight. While the other members were all stunning, poor Rosé was standing there in a middle-aged woman’s dress. Clearly, this dress is the design that totally disturbs everyone.
So, do you agree with my picks? Also what color of BLACKPINK’s dresses do you think I should be doing next? Feel free to comment down below!
