MissA’s Fei, Min and Suzy- 2012 Dream Concert Red Carpet
When MissA was still in their early days, one of the most vivid impressions the group left for the public was the sloppy and somewhat rustic sense of fashion.
While it’s obvious that things all came down to the poor aesthetic of the stylists, the way everyone looked at the girls was also negatively impacted.
Even when opting for a simple palette that contain only two basic colors: black and beige, for the red carpet outfit, the stylists still magically managed to turn everything into a disaster by dressing MissA with clothes that had entangling details and cutouts that failed to flatter the figure of the idols.
First, let’s start out with Suzy. At the important event sponsored by the big name Hyundai Oilbank, while everyone was trying to be as attractive and maleficent as possible, Suzy was literally dressed in an outfit of a person about to go play tennis.
The most annoying thing about this outfit was the irrelevant hole that exposed the belly of Suzy in an extremely graceless way.
What’s the point of that cut out? If the intention was to compliment the figure of Suzy then the stylist had failed miserably.
About the skirt, besides looking super stiff and unattractive, the size also seemed to not fit Suzy’s hip because it looked like it was about to fall off right at the moment she took a walk.
By combining this ridiculous skirt with the graceless cut out, the stylists have extended Suzy’s upper body till the point that her proportion couldn’t be anymore disproportionate.
This may offend some of Suzy’s fans but in this event, she looked extremely pathetic in the outfit that was even worse than a secondhand dress.
Then we have Fei, the girl that was forced to bring a whole black curtain on stage.
Μaybe to make the dress less of a ridiculous curtain, a crop-top beige jacket was added on top to cover that annoying resemblance with a so-called red carpet outfit and a house decoration.
Though things look a bit better for the costumes that Jia and Min were dressed in, there was still room for improvement in the aesthetic of the stylists.
As mentioned, since the red carpet outfit was all about expressing the formal and posh fashion sense, there was no way Jia could just put on a pair of leather trousers and see-through cheesy top like she was heading for a random meeting of her school rock band.
About Min, she had on a look that couldn’t look more lame since it was literally a babydollish black dress layered with a casual crop-top cardigan.
MissA’s Jia and Min – unknown event
Maybe to create a sense of fairness that all members must at least undergo the feeling of being ugly dressed for red carpet costumes, on another important occasion, the stylists put on Jia and Min the most confusing and cheesiest outfits on Earth.
Take Min for example. Probably since the stylists were firm opponents of minimalism, they refused to dress the idol in mere black and wh̾i̾t ̾e like Fei.
Instead, Min was made to wear an eye-irritating top that was patched up from various colorful fag ends.
While the geometric pattern has always reminded people about somєthing futuristic and simplistic, when it came under the hands of MissA’s stylists, everything turned straight into a mess of fabric that had no relation to one another.
If you have watched Power Rangers then maybe this pathetic outfit would right away remind you of Jindrax the villain.
With that confusing colorful top and the wh̾i̾t ̾e pants chopped into chunks for no good reasons, Min apparently only needed to put on that eccentric, chunky head and a pair of knives to be invited to play the role of Jindrax.
For this particular outfit, only one word can describe everything: cringe.
A little bit better than Min, Jia was made to wear a top that pretty much reminded me of a simplified face of the robot in Transformers.
If you still can’t understand what I’m talking about then take two holes as the eyes and everything will probably fall into place.
Red Velvet – Dumb Dumb stage at M COUNTDOWN in 2015
During the Dumb Dumb era, the girls once got the whole Internet shook for wearing pairs of jeans that couldn’t be anymore ragged.
While it’s undeniably true that the theme of that comeback was about somєthing crazy and silly, forcing the girls dressing like a bunch of colorful clowns trying in vain to be gangstas just made no sense at all.
Besides the beggar jeans, the group also confused people with the colorful tights that only have one side left.
Looking at the messy mix and match of the stylists, many had thought that Red Velvet must have gotten into a big f̾i̾g̾h̾t ̾ before rushing to the music show.
BLACKPINK’s Jennie – Tokyo Girls Collection 2018
Apparently this list will never be complete without Jennie’s shuttlecock dress. Actually, it wasn’t so correct to call it a dress because even when Jennie just stood there, her safety shorts were still hardly covered.
When Jennie wore this outfit to perform at ̾j̾a̾p̾a̾n Pop Wave, netizens couldn’t stop asking what’s wrong with the fashion sense of the stylists.
While the other members were all dressed in outfits that helped them show off their waistlines, Jennie looked straight like a dancing shuttlecock.
Some fanti found the dress so ridiculous that they even made tons of memes out of it:
Not only the top itself looked cheap with the sheer material, cheesy pleats on the chest and the line of letters whose font was stiff and boring, but the fact that it was worn with a plain black chunky choker in a weird combination with two graceful chain of pearl necklaces has also degraded the cläṩṩy image of Jennie to the bottom rock level.
TWICE’s Dahyun and Jeongyeon – Feel Special Stage at M COUNTDOWN in 2019
Ironically enough, while companies in the Big3 are those with unimaginable amounts of äṩṩets, none of them seem to afford a proper crew of stylists for the idols.
You want proof? As you see, we’ve already had Red Velvet, BLACKPINK’s Jennie and now, let’s prepare a standing ovation for the stage costumes of Jeongyeon and Dahyun.
In the Feel Special era, probably to help Dahyun stand out with the second least screen time in the group, the stylist made her wear a holographic, semi transparent outfit that unfortunately turned her into a walking jellyfish.
First comes the top, while Dahyun could have looked better off by only wearing the bling bling bandeau bra, two irrelevant pleated sleeves were sewed into the top to make her upper body bulky and jumbling.
Then came the cheap, plastic pants that seemed to be made out of a raincoat. When Dahyun first appeared in the design, fans immediately got reminded of the one that Park Jin Young once wore in his 1981 promotion.
While this style was weird and somewhat repugnant, from the perspective of Jin Young, it was definitely a pride that must be included in the “Feel Special” era of TWICE.
However, a bit luckier for Dahyun that instead of having to wear a mere underwear under those ridiculous plastic pants like Jin Young, she could have more coverage by wearing a pair of shorts instead.
While Dahyun’s outfits triggered everyone’s sense of fashion for its stiffness and jumbling, that of Jeongyeon failed because it was just so plain and boring.
At this point, I think we all see how unstable the performance of TWICE’s stylists were since instead of balancing every factor to give out a harmonious outfit for all members, they just put an extremely lame costume on one person and then have another wear an outfit that can’t look anymore confusing.
Anyway, back to the thing that Jeongyeon was wearing. It looked like it was made at the last minute where the grey matter and creativity of the stylists all ran out.
Probably to fit better with Jeongyeon, “Feel Special” should have been called “Feel Boring” because of that outfit. It made her look like she had just gotten out of bed 5 minutes before the show and only had enough time to put on the bling bling boots to cover up the boredom of what she was wearing.
For this stage costume, Jeongyeon only needed to add a belt and voila, she would have the literally exact same silk nightgown as the one here:
